September 2021 - Waiting times continue to get longer

As we now into the autumn months there seems to be an underlying sense of unease that COVID19 cases may begin to rise further and hospitalisations as well. The reopening of schools and universities as well as the easing of restrictions may all contribute to a spike in cases but we remain hopeful.

Many people have enjoyed the increased freedom over the last couple of months and there is a purpose to the governments plans in avoiding further strict lockdowns.

Unfortunately, a consequence of these policies and previous lockdown has meant that waiting lists for routine surgery are getting longer and longer. In many cases these are unacceptable delays for patient struggling with symptoms. There is some hope in additional funding for the NHS but we may not see the benefits of this until many months.

Seeking a second opinion or considering treatment in the private sector may be an alternative and often there is no harm in seeking advice. You can expect the highest levels of care as well as treatment in a timely and convenient manner. If you are considering treatment in the private sector our team at The London Clinic would be delighted to help.

Take care
