April 2021 - Light at the end of the tunnel

Finally it seems as though there may be some signs of hope as the vaccination programme takes hold. We have all suffered tremendously over the last 12 months and many of our priorities have changed. Unfortunately, one of the consequences of the restrictions and fear produced by the devastation of COVID19 is that we have missed appointments or potentially neglected our health understandably prioritising safety from the virus.

The vaccination programme in the United Kingdom has been a tremendous success and there is now increasing evidence of the effectiveness of such a program. I am sure we are all looking forward to restaurants, shops and other leisure activities opening up over the coming weeks, we should also be mindful of any health symptoms that we have been contemplating.

It is important to have the symptoms checked out and it is likely that they are completely benign and inconsequential. However, in some circumstances there will be cases where they are a marker of something more significant going on and it is important to have an early diagnosis for successful treatment.

There are news stories of huge waiting lists to see a doctor but in reality if you have serious symptoms, you should most definitely seek medical advice and will be prioritised accordingly. You will be seen quickly and investigations ordered in a timely fashion. However, if you wish to have these investigations or a consultation in the private sector then we are happy to guide you in an open and honest manner. Our concern, as with the as NHS, is to ensure that you are both reassured and confident that you have had your symptoms investigated thoroughly and appropriately.

The London Clinic caters for all circumstances and if you do have any questions or concerns our team will be more than happy to assist.

I hope you are able to return to some form of normality over the coming weeks and wish you the best for the coming summer.

Stay safe,

Manish Chand
